I buy from Amazon every week, and leave reviews when something is way better than expected.I had dental trays made for $300+, but they broke.I still had the whitening gel, so was about to make new trays; another $300.I decided to order these to see if they were 'nearly as good' or 'good enough'.Turns out, they are as good as!really.The tray is to mainly keep your lip from wiping off the goop, but they also need to be somewhat close so you don't waste the gel.These were way better than expected;I'd say there is absolutely no reason to get trays at the dentist or to try the home tray kits where you mail them in.The only thing about these that some may not like is they just cover the front 8 teeth if you have big teeth; maybe 10 if you have smaller teeth.They cover 8 for me, but that's all that are visible anyway.The material is thick and seems very good quality.
Some tips;1) cut the top from the bottom. the instruction says it works either way, but if you heat them together they stick together.2) once water comes to a boil, drop in and pull out at the count of three;and that is without pausing!!they turn to goop.I'd suggest you do the bottom alone (do it first) since its not as crucial of you blow it.But you get two sets, so that is some some relief if you screw it up.Just don't think "I'll count to four, just to be sure".You are better off counting to two and then trying again.3) practice sucking out the air once they are in your mouth before you boil them.It takes about 5 seconds to be a master at it.4)once you boil and put in your mouth and suck out the air, run your finger along them.I don't know if it helps but it can't hurt.and 5) be careful to center the middle to the middle of your mouth; this sounds obvious, but since they only cover 8 teeth (maybe 10?)if you get it off, then it covers 3.5 or 3 on one side, and that is not enough (at least for me), so I had to redo it.
The mistakes I made;Tried to boil without cutting, so they stuck to each other (so cut them apart), didn't center them (so I had to redo).
I heard the silcone ones are lousy, by the way;they don't seperate, you can't talk, saliva builds up, etc.These have zero problems.You can talk.You just can't eat!

The first time I used a whitening tray it was the custom made kind from my dentist.Of course it fit perfectly, but I have had some dental work done since which improved the shape of one of my teeth and the tray no longer fit.I purchased these after reading several customer reviews on the trays for sale through Amazon.There were much cheaper trays being sold through other companies ($1.50 $4.00) as opposed to $14 for these, but the reviews on the cheap trays were all negative.
On these, I read a review that said instead of dropping the tray in boiling water for 3 5 seconds (as package instructions read), you should ONLY do it for 1 3 seconds, otherwise the tray melts and turns into a plastic glob.That review was 100% accurate. The first tray I tried to mold was much too soft when I put it in my mouth (from being in hot water about 4 seconds) and lost almost all its shape and was very misaligned when finished.If the kit had only come with one tray, I would have had to throw it away and buy a new one.Thankfully your first tray can be used for practice in molding.The second set was much better.I left it in the water for about 2 seconds and put it in USING A MIRROR to see that it was aligned correctly.Pressing it against your teeth (with your fingers) as you are sucking out the air (as instructions read) does help.My tray fits very well, is comfortable, & has worked.I've been whitening for only about a week and already seen a major improvement.
One other note I have noticed when rinsing the gel out of the tray after use, that if the water you use is too hot then the tray starts to get soft & I've worried it would lose it's shape/the impression of my teeth if left too long. I would recommend using only lukewarm or cool water to rinse the tray after each use.
For the price and for skipping the hassle of going to the dentist I would defintely recommend these.

These are better than the expensive set my dentist made for me ten years ago which no longer fit because my teeth have moved since then. I'm glad I didn't get a new set made and used these instead. Easy to form, easy to trim, and so comfortable I can sleep in them, no problem. Recommended.

This works ok.They give you two pieces you boil and bite, need to be very carefull since they only need to be in the hot water for a second or two.They work ok and stay in overnight, I would recommend for those not wanting custom guards but wanting to buy high-strength teeth whitener.

These trays are great. I wasn't expecting too much when I ordered them, but I've been impressed. They are super comfortable to wear and fairly easy to customize. I ordered these because the photo showed round tab trays which I have used before and they work well.However, the trays actually sent are a different brand.They have triangulat tabs and are cloudy and do not form easily to the teeth. They have a very narrow working range.If the water is not hot enough, the tray does not form to the teeth well.Placing the tray in hotter water and it is prone to wilt before you can press it around the teeth. I used to work in the dental field, so do not think it is a dexterity issue or because I am unfamiliar with dental materials.The trays are just rather difficult to use. Merchant is aware that the photo differs from the product sent; they would accept return, but this is impractical due to postage costs and low cost of item.Be aware if you purchase these trays that they are lower priced trays because they are harder to use; they are not higher quality trays that are clearer, softer, and easier to use. If you do not need 5 pair, it may still be worth it if you don't mind practicing on a pair or two before you to get a set with a satisfactory fit.
