I purchased trays and Opalescence 20% whitening gel from my dentist. My instructions were to apply the gel to the trays (sparingly) and then wear the trays for 90 minutes a day for two weeks without skipping days.My teeth are no longer yellow.The product works.I did experience some discomfort and sensitivity around my gum line and in my teeth but it is nothing that is intolerable.I would not try a stronger strength of the gel.My dentist gave me a toothpaste to use to help with the sensitivity and it has helped.I believe it is important to follow the instructions of the dentist with regard to the amount of gel that is applied to the whitening trays.A little does go a long way and too much causes unnecessary discomfort to the gums.The product and this method of tooth whitening is effective but you need to be patient and diligent.I purchased more gel for future touch ups from an Amazon.com vendor because it was more cost effective than purchasing more gel from the dentist.

I started using Opalescence after having my teeth whitened by a dentist.They charged me $25 for one syringe of whitening.I found it on Amazon.com at quite a reduced price.It works great and I will continue to use it.I do however suggest using the trays made professionaly.

I ordered from this company (Green Dot) because it was cheaper than buying from my dentist. I guess there's a reason it was cheaper. Some of the product seemed to have the same strength as the stuff sold but my dentist, but most of it was weak and did not lighten my teeth. I'd say about 10% of what I bought was usable. When I contacted the company, they first said they'd replace the order free of charge, but then emailed again saying no, they would not in fact provide a replacement. Said it had been six months (which it hadn't) since my purchase. I looked for their return policy and could not find it. When I asked for it (and pointed out again that it had not been 6months) they told me (basically) to get lost and they were not going to make good on their original offer, nor stand behind their product. After reading other reviews from customers with similar stories, it seems like this company is trying to pass off bad product for good. Plus, there's no phone number so they seem to be hiding behind emails. Beware. They don't seem honest. I'm not sure why Amazon allows this kind of stuff on their site. I learned my lesson. I hope you can avoid the same waste of time and money.

The product came with an expiration date of 2008.The gel still works, but takes longer than the gel I bought at the dentist's office with an advanced date of expiration.
