Sensodyne Toothpaste for Sensitive Teeth and Cavity Prevention, Extra Whitening, 4-Ounce Tubes (Pac

Sensodyne Toothpaste for Sensitive Teeth and Cavity Prevention, Extra Whitening, 4-Ounce TubesFor many years I suffered from terrible canker sores, not knowing what caused them or how to get rid of them. Then someone mentioned that a compound in many toothpastes called sodium lauryl sulfate had been implicated in causing the kind of recurrent ulcers I was dealing with, so I decided to try a toothpaste without the chemical to see if my problem improved. This was a surprisingly difficult task the vast majority of toothpastes have SLS as an inactive ingredient (apparently it's part of how many toothpastes and shampoos lather). Finally I found Sensodyne Extra Whitening, and I am happy to report that since switching to it my canker sore problem has all but disappeared.

I am obviously VERY happy about no longer having to deal with canker sores, but there are a few drawbacks. Firstly, Sensodyne is on the pricier end of the spectrum and costs about $2 more per tube than my old toothpaste. Secondly, the taste isn't very appealing, though you do get used to it after a while. Finally, it has a strange gritty kind of texture.

As far as the "whitening" claim goes, I haven't really noticed a difference, but that wasn't why I bought this product anyway. I also want to point out that not all Sensodyne formulas are SLS-free. The mint one, for example, does have SLS, which is unfortunate because it tastes a lot better than this one.

Sensodyne won't completely get rid of sensitivity to cold or hot or very sweet foods, but it will reduce it to bearable levels. If you have the 'retracted gum line' problem like I do, this stuff is perfect and over the counter.

Your dentist can prescribe stronger stuff, and also let you know if the pain is from a cavity and not just sensitivity. The whitening effect, as with all whitening products, is marginal.

Having sensitive teeth from being a huge soda drinker as a kid, I cringed at even the sight of chocolate cake and was beginning to experience pain and agony at sugars, colds, hots, basically anything extreme was making me jump out of my shoes, looking for any reprieve that I could find.I tried fluoride gels, Act, brushing and flossing more often, and while all this helped, the thing that really made my life more bearable was Sensodyne toothpaste.Much improved from the formulas that were out 20 years ago, the new flavors are very good and there are many flavors to choose from (back in the day there was only 1).My personal favorite is Cool Gel, but if you suffer from sensitive teeth, any flavor will be perfectly acceptable if it helps your teeth feel better.Sensodyne works by filling nodules in your teeth with fluoride and it can be considered a type of 'patch' for the worn down areas of your mouth.Unlike other 'magic' elixirs out on the market, Sensodyne really DOES work and you'll never know how you lived without it!

Try it now and you WON'T go back!!

I started to use Sensodyne after my dentist recommended me to use it for my sensitive teeth. Not only works great to reduce the sensitivity, it keeps my teeth fairly white without using those whitening products! I'm a coffee drinker but my teeth don't show it too much. Highly recommend!

Will take at least three tubes and you will slowly but surely see results and you have to be patient and keep at it-and why not you are going to brush anyway. If you have sensitive teeth, this is the only way to go in home care.
