The device I received was defective.It has painfully sharp edges and an uncomfortable ridge right where the tongue rests. I can not keep it in my mouth for more than a few seconds without it being overly irritating.

Well it took a little time, but Amazon pulled through for me (thanks Amazon you guys rock!).I submitted a claim file, which was originally "refused" by Amazon after they contacted "Touch of White Smile".I then submitted a rather lengthy rebuttal to Amazon, indicating my position and clearly communicating all the facts.Amazon looked into the matter and after a more careful review they agreed with my position and provided a full refund.It is unfortunate that the folks at "Touch of White Smile" could not have been more sensitive to their customers and done this on their own.

1 For positive or negative reviews, is the reviewer a real person?Have they reviewed multiple items or just one?Take a look at many of the reviewers for this product and you will find that many people signed up, checked in wrote one positive review and then never, ever commented on anything ever again. I have called out this seller on this topic many times over and I have noticed a new trend.Read on...

2 People who make a positive review for one product and then have an unusual flurry of reviews clustered around the same date or dates.Nothing prior and then they fall silent.This appears to be the "new normal" for this product.Check it out; you will see a 4 or 5 for this product plus a few other reviews for random stuff usually on or near the same day and then nothing again.A genuine reviewer will have a broad range of views over a long period of time.

Bottom line is that if a seller goes to great pains to post misleading reviews, how trust worthy is the seller in general?Makes me wonder which is why I repeat BUYER BEWARE.I hope this helps.

[Sorry that I am kind of lazy in writing reviews -I usually do not write reviews, because I agree with most reviews with the products I have purchased on Amazon.However, I have decided this time that I need to write a review for this product, because this product has some serious problems, at least in my opinion, and that has not been mentioned by other reviewers.It is very possible that many other reviewers have not realized the problem with this product yet.See my review below -how often you would lift your upper lip to examine your upper gums?]

I purchased this product in late July 2011.It took about 2 weeks for me receive the molding kit.Another 2~3 weeks for me to receive the actual product.I started using it at the beginning of September 2011.The product is designed to fit your top teeth, and it fits my top teeth very well.However, here are the problems:

1) It is VERY tight.It does not fall off during night.That's good.However, when waking up in the morning, I always feel that my teeth (especially several of my front teeth) have been pulled inward.It seems that the tightness of this product has made my teeth shifted, especially the front ones.This tight feelings of my teeth will last most of the mornings.By late evening, the feeling of my teeth will go back to normal.However, the next morning, the feeling of teeth shift will start over again.

2) After wearing for 1~2 weeks, I start to feel a little strange on my upper teeth.One day, I was curious, and I lifted my upper lip to check it out in front of a mirror.I was horrified at what I saw.I saw that my upper gums have receded significantly.With the gums receding, I saw these big gaps in-between the bottom of my upper front teeth.(For those who have already used this product, please check with yourself.People do not usually lift their lips to see this, and I am sure that I am not the only one have this problem).

I contacted this seller right away about my problem.To my surprise, the person ("Matt") wrote me back and ask me to use Google to do "research" myself, because he thinks it has nothing to do with the product.Also, he claims that [quote] "We are not a dentist and only made a guard that you wanted".The seller insisted that "The guard does fit well and is working to protect the teeth, it is not defective and custom to your mouth.If the guard was lose, it would fall out at night and you could choke on it.It should fit snug to your teeth which you have stated it does."

I concluded that using this product will cause more problem than getting the benefit, because I know gum recession will cause teeth to lose, and the daily teeth shift will fasten this process.Loosing teeth (especially my front teeth) is a lot more serious than grinding them (usually in the back).Also, I will check with my dentist (and this seller recommended that, ironically).

My Frustration

I am frustrated in dealing with the seller.There is no "customer service" from this company.I have emailed him several times, and every time he will only use the masked Amazon notification email to communication with me.Hence, this "company" does not even have a company email for you to work with, and there is not a phone number or a Web site.The only person replied my email was "Matt".

When I ask for refund, he refused because [quote] "So what sort of guarantee do I have that if I give you a refund you still won't create a bad review".That's a strange English, but I know what he means.He wants to make sure that the refund will be issued only if I guarantee to him that I will not write a bad review.No wonder this product has all of the 4~5 stars.No one has ever written bad reviews because this seller will make sure these people will shut up by issuing them refund.

For me, I am not getting the refund, and I am speaking up for the rest of the world to see.

Also, I strongly suspect that this company reuses all of their molding kits -as some of other reviewers have already suggested.The molding kit I have received included a wrinkled instruction sheet, along with the molding pieces.Nothing was sealed.Reuse the instruction sheet is OK with me.However, I just do not feel comfortable to use the molding kit that has been in others' mouth before.I had to wash molding kit several times because I just do not like the thought that these pieces have been in others' mouths before.I really hoped that I have washed away the gems left by others.Since the instructions specifically ask you to mail everything back, I know the pieces I have used will be used again by new customers in the future.Yikes.

When my dentists told me I had to get a guard to keep from grinding for $500 I almost fell out.I have have 5 fillings replaced because of my grinding so what am spost to say, no thanks..they got me by my short and curlies. Or do they?This product is almost if not exactly what my dentist was going to do.Create a mold, ship it off, get the final product, charge me $500 thank you very much.Now for $50, I get the same result and get a professionally designed grind guard molded to my teeth. I have posted images with notes above please check them out cause they are WAY better than the picture they use on this page. What comes with this product when you buy it:

1) Molding putty (2 containers blue/white that are blended together in mold)

2) Molds (1 large/1 small)

3) Prepaid padded envelope to mail back mold after imprint

4) Printed instructions ( bad picture quality on the pics printed on them but you get the idea)

Mixing/molding = easy just be aware when you push this into your mouth and push it up against your teeth the putty has to go somewhere when it is displaced.I found the extra trying to go down the back of my throat the fist time and had a gag thing going on.Popped out the mold, reshaped the putty to a more reasonable shape and had waaaay better time. The mold came out very easy.See above pic of results.

Sent back molds (they want back the one you don't use also) in the provided prepaid envelope and got it back in about 8 days.

Very happy with it, very solid, and looks like it will take the wear and tear that it should.Should I be proven wrong I will write an update with the life span.The clock starts today (2/14/11).

Still going strong.No tears in it which is saying something with how powerful of a grinder I am. Still fits well and the only thing I noticed is a slight discoloration (its was clear not it is kinda milky).I also find black moldto start occurring in the deep recesses of the tooth marks. This is NOT a design flaw just a wet environment and nature doing what it does best.I have found a small spray bottle and put Listerine in it.After removing it I spray the top and bottom with it and place in case...stopped all those nasties from occurring.

Also I had some comments/concerns about the sending back the molds I didn't use and whether or not they were possibly reusing the molds.I can't say one way or another, but don't think your dentist isn't doing the same.Since the company does not ask for a size of your mouth, they are sending a "complete" package and are just trying to get back the unused parts. Just sterilize them with Listerine or such before using if you are concerned.

This is way better than any mouthguard you can get from the drugstore. It fits your teeth perfectly and isn't bulky. I had problems with drugstore mouthguards falling out of my mouth while I slept, but this one fits like a glove and is comparable to something you could get from your dentist for much more money. I only had two problems throughout the process. When I was making my mold, I thought I needed to use ALL of the putty provided. I was using the small mold try and it was way too much. I was gagging and excessively drooling the whole 5 minutes I had to keep the mold in my mouth but I suffered through. I think I would have gotten a better mold if I had used less putty so the excess wasn't making me gag, but my mouthguard still fits fine. Another thing I don't like about it is I wish the manufacturer would have contoured the edge of the mouthguard that sits on the roof of your mouth. It's hard to explain, but when you get yours you'll see what I am talking about. It's not a jagged or sharp edge, but it scrapes your tongue whenever you swallow. I couldn't stand it so I heated up a spoon and melted the edge into a smoother contour and it's ok now, but I'm willing to bet the manufacturer could created a smoother edge than I could.

While initially, I was very happy about my purchase, I too found the instructions vague and downright lacking!In addition it appears as though the purchase has 40 applications with a 10cc syringe, but per the "instrutions" you are to place .5cc per each arch per application which equals 10 applications. It only says for the "required time", but never specifies what that is? ANYONE KNOW? Thank you.

I was expecting it to arrive packaged in a small box.All the components arrived loose in a large envelope.Also, it would have been nice to have clearer instructions.It arrived quickly, though.

Crest 3D White Vivid Toothpaste, Radiant Mint, 4-Ounce Carton (Pack of 6)

()I started using this toothpaste last Monday. The box says I will have potentially whiter teeth in 14 days so my aim is to update this review periodically to see if that actually happens.

The texture of this toothpaste is a bit different from what I normally use (gel type) but it otherwise looks, feels, and smells like regular old toothpaste. I did not find it to strong and it didn't burn (which can be a problem with some toothpastes due to the mint component perhaps?). I did not notice any sensitivity in my mouth but did notice that some existing slight sensitivity in my right upper quadrant disappeared after a couple days with this toothpaste. I'm not sure what this means or if there is a connection.

After 3 days I can't say I notice any difference in the whiteness level of my teeth taken as a whole but I have two teeth on the right that appear slightly brighter and less yellow. I'm a former smoker and I love coffee and tea so my teeth are yellowed a bit. Also my teeth are naturally more yellowish than white (thank you Dad!). I will update again this weekend after 6 days to document the progress.

Here's the reason I gave it 5 stars: Unlike in the movies and on TV where people seem to get up in the morning and kiss their spouse awake I don't happen to have breath I want anyone getting within 10 feet of at 7am. So far I haven't found very many toothpaste's that keep my breath fresher for that wonderful morning aroma (not talking about coffee here!). This one DOES. Its not perfect nor is it a miracle BUT it definitely leaves my mouth feeling and smelling much cleaner longer. I wasn't expecting this benefit but I Like it! My teeth also feel cleaner overall.

While the verdict is still out on its whitening properties I gotta say I really love the fact my mouth feels cleaner and stays cleaner longer. Recommended!

Updates:

Day 6 continues to perform well and I continue to notice that it definitely keeps my breath fresh longer. I no longer have the really nasty morning breath--while I wouldn't exactly say its taken care of it completely it is substantially noticable. I also have to say that there is some whitening effect. It is not a huge difference but it is noticable. It seems to be affecting my top front teeth most--they are whiter no doubt about it. Again the change is not as if I could use them to light my way home or anything but it is clearly removing some of the stains. I will update again around day 10.

Day 11 same as above. Stll really like the cleanliness this toothpaste has. No additional whitening/removing of stains that I can tell by looking in a mirror.

Edited at Day 16: After 14 days I can say that this toothpaste did remove some surface stains. I'm very happy with its performance and will purchase it again once this tube is done. Although it might sound corny (and before this I really didn't give much thought to toothpaste!) this is some very good stuff!

Edited after 6 months: It is official. This is my "IT" toothpaste. I ran out and got some other type and barely made it 3 days before I broke down and drove to another store to get this specific one. My teeth, after consistent use, ARE whiter (they aren't white like movie-star-paid-a-lot white but they stay much whiter than they did previously and I don't use any other whitening products). But best of all my breath and mouth feel much cleaner and that's a huge plus. I've switched both my kids (5th and 8th graders) to this toothpaste as well. We all love it and don't have any plans to go back to any other type.

Edited after One Year: This continues, even after one year, to be the toothpaste I chose. My teeth haven't gotten any whiter than they did before but this toothpaste does do a good job of getting those surface stains off. My entire family still loves it and uses it. I have no plans to stop purchasing this at any time and I hope they continue to make it for a long time. I have gone out of town a couple times since Christmas and each time I brought one of those trial sizes of another toothpaste and I HATED them (they were various brands). In fact last time I got so fed up I went to the store and bought another tube of this. Since I only had carry on and you can't bring this size I ended up leaving it for my relatives. They love it now too!

Facts about me first:

()Let me open this review (and how exciting can a review about toothpaste be???) by saying I am a big believer in Crest and will continue to use Crest products. I have been using Crest since my mother was first brushing me as an infant and between good brushing habits and a decent diet I have never had a cavity in my 40 something years of age.

I drink a glass of iced tea at lunch almost everyday so my teeth could use some serious whitening. I have bleached in the past with very good results but it was nice to test out this toothpaste that Proctor and Gamble claims "Can remove up to 80% of surface stains in 14 days". I have a Tooth Whitening Shade Guide from my bleaching kit and took a photo before the start of my product test and after about 20 days of use brushing twice per day. The photos are now posted here under Customer Images for your viewing. As you can see from the photos there was almost no whitening at all so I can say this did not work for me. I was thinking if I hit 50% whiter that I would be very happy but I doubt I even made the 10% mark. From my point of view, my teeth started at about a 5 on the scale and were still at a 5 after almost 3 weeks of brushing. I would have given it more stars if it made even a small difference but in my case it did not.

Overall this is a nice toothpaste to use, with good flavor and a fresh after-taste. It comes in a gel formula and has small blue dots that scrub the surface of your enamel. I think most would enjoy it as a toothpaste, just don't count on it to whiten your teeth.

im not sure what the germ killing contents of this toothpaste is, but oh my god its WAY too strong, almost everyone who uses this has burning in the gums, cracked gums/lips redness/swelling and it leaves white film around you're gums too. i use the white strips those are great, but do NOT buy this toothpaste, it has literally burned a small hole on the inside of my lip that has been burning and irritating me for at least 2-3 days now.

I have used the product 4x this weekend, 2x more to go.

I'm already seeing results, so mileage may vary.

I have good teeth, but drink a lot of tea, so the lower half of my teeth are brown.

This product is like a 2 part epoxy.

The mouthwash preps your teeth.

The gel brightens them.

The best analogy I can provide is like a 30% hydrogen peroxide.

When you apply the gel, it bonds to the teeth.

It looks kind of pearly.

It commences fizzing.

Voila white teeth!

The cons are that you can hurt yourself using this product, & that it makes me thirsty.

TIPS

Brush your teeth et al before using product.

Put a layer of Vaseline on lips so not to burn lips.

Wash any residue off lips after session.

Do the bottom teeth first as you will be salivating.

If you salivate, spit it out before applying product.

It's like trying to paint a wet surface.

It's not going to happen.

I just finished my 1st day application and I quickly saw a difference in the color of my teeth. I wanted to make sure I wasn't seeing things or having wishful thinking so I asked my 6 yr old son (whom is not acquainted with sarcasm or lying) to tell me what color number my teeth were before starting the product. We sat by the window as to get much outdoor sun light. He stated they were about an 8 or 9. I estimated about the same after getting a mirror. Now, my teeth have been abused from 15 years of smoking, on and off mornings of coffee and tea, and I love red wine.

I started part one (swishing the activating rinse, quickly put small rolled up pieces of cotton between my lips and gums (so the whitening gel wouldn't touch my lips or gums and to prevent saliva from interfering). After the 10 min I quickly repeated steps 1 and 2 as instructed. By the time I had step to a couple min in, I noticed my teeth were brighter but to make sure, I fished the last 10 min and went to my son to ask if there was a difference in color. He held up the color card and said I was at a 4 or 5. THIS WAS AFTER ONE USE AND A LOT OF PREVIOUS ABUSE! I compared it myself and he was right. I can't wait to try it tomorrow again!

NOTE: I am not the only person to leave a review advising to to put gauze, roll a bit of toilet paper, or use small pieces of cotton balls between your lips, cheeks, and gums. It has a slight burn if exposed to the gums too long. It does go away shortly after the process is finished. This is the ONLY reason I gave it a 4 star.

Ok so after the wknd was over and also the whitening, I didn't get too much lighter. I also never got sensitive teeth or gums from this either and my teeth normally react to EVERYTHING. I did fallow up a few days later with Crest 2hr white strips and HOLY COW did they ever get white! My teeth got ridiculous white lol I went to a club with black lights and my teeth were so white they glowed bright like a new white t-shirt in black light. I wrote a review for the Crest 2 hr white strips too if anyone wants to check it out.

Excellent taste!!!! The vanilla mint has the flavor of angel food cake with a dash of mint. Makes you want to keep brushing for hours. Compared to the Colgate Optic White this is a stronger whitener but around the same level as some of the Crest whitening pastes. No dramatic results but will see gradual results with continued use. Overall a good product and decent size for the cost. Will buy again.

I've been buying the "restore" toothpaste for about a year now.... I'm 61 and my teeth have whitened and become less sensitive to pain. I bought it initially because it didn't have fluoride. This product has it. And... they put this disclaimer on it"Safety Information

I have used this product off and on for many years.Use as directed for a week, to two weeks, depending on the amount of whitness you need, it really works.I use to get it at my dentist office, they started charging alot for it so I found it on-line and have been very very happy with it.It is so much cheaper to buy on-line.I have used the Crest Strips and it is no where near as effective as the Day White.

You should initially check with your dentist before you buy Day White because your gums may not be in good enough condition to use it.

ALSO, you will need to have a form-fitted tray to closely fit your teeth to squirt the bleach into.Your Dentist can make a mold for you,or, you can try to find a snug-fitting rubber teeth tray.But if the tray is too big you will waste a lot of the bleach.You don't want that.The bleach is strong enough to blister a gum, so TRY NOT to apply it directly on the gum line.If you have healthy gums and teeth, you should have no problems.Follow their enclosed directions.

You may need to re-apply Day White in a couple years, depending on how much coffee, tea, smoking, etc. you do.

Over all this product works excellent.

()It's a box of four sets of whitening strips. It seems to suggest that this OTC whitening strip finally contains enough concentration to whiten enough in merely 2 hours that the effect will last 3 months, as the box suggests that it's good for a year's supply. Typically over the counter whitening strips doesn't contain nearly high enough concentration of peroxides, that only after multiple and frequent applications will any results start to show. I wonder if this is different.

Application is painless. It doesn't even suggest brushing your teeth first (in fact it recommends that you don't brush your teeth immediately before application). The whitening strips has a relatively thick layer of gel, and the substrate film material is very pliable yet durable. Its purpose is trying to simulate a dental office treatment, where your teeth will be immersed in a tray of (highly concentrated) peroxide gel/mud. It stuck to my teeth with little effort and dexterity. Within minutes, my teeth was engulfed in a bubbly peroxide bath.

Having this on feels a bit strange in the mouth, and I talked like I had a big tongue, but I tried to carry on as normal. It stuck to the teeth very well, despite my biting right over the strips and licking them. The bubbly area also largely stayed put, and little disturbed by saliva and movement of the lips and tongue. Bubbly substance does seep out in the form of thick gooey film(or it's just a mixture of saliva and gel substrate). My teeth felt the effects: I wouldn't call it discomfort, but after 5 minutes I started feeling something is happening to my teeth, though it's very slight (and probably depends on people's sensitivities).

Taking it off after two hours was easy: just rip it off. I deliberately left a few teeth half covered to see if there are any before/after differences. I noticed that many of my teeth developed white marble-like patterns, or probably what the instruction referred to as "white spots". It seems to develop around areas where the teeth's surface may have imperfections and crack lines. It's said to eventually go away and I believe it.

Thus interestingly, while I wasn't expecting much effects, it seems to have done something. Alas, the experimental tooth where I left half uncovered didn't reveal much difference between the treated and untreated area, other than the marble pattern of white lines that formed on the surface of many treated teeth. I probably have deep coloration problems that cannot be treated by surface oxidation through a moderate peroxide concentration? Anyway, in other words, it didn't work all that much for me.

That said, those white marks on my teeth suggests that the strips did contain a decent amount of peroxide concentration to at least show its effects in two hours, which is on the faster end of average home treatment strips. I had my friend try it and it didn't seem to make that much difference for her either, however.

Therefore, while the active ingredient seems to be layered on thicker and more concentrated than average, it still doesn't seem to whiten that much for us. I wonder if more applications will help, but certainly not at only 4 times a year or once every 3 months. It's probably not strong enough to give off that much lasting effect with such infrequent use.

()I'd never used a whitening strip before, so wanted to give 'em a try.I really wanted bright teeth for a client meeting, and my teeth really needed a brightening up.What surprised me was that you don't brush your teeth first. That was counter-intuitive.I stuck in the strips, waited two hours, and saw a slight difference.Not a lot, but some.Well, I was in a hurry.I used another strip four days later, and another a few days after that.That really gave me some great looking teeth. My only complaint is that there's gummy residue remaining on your teeth after removing the strips. I had to pick / wipe it off for a few minutes.

Sure they were supposed to be used over a few months, but I had more immediate needs.I have slightly sensitive teeth, and these did not bother me at all.The strips are a little strange feeling, but they did not effect my speech. So when I saw these 2 hr ones, I thought "wow, great--should be really good". I applied the strips and waited 2 hrs. However, when I removed the strips the effect was very slight--not really noticeable at all. But, a few hours later I started having pain in my teeth and I've NEVER, EVER had any tooth sensitivity before. The pain lasted quite a few hours and even though I took 2 Aleeve the pain was still there. Cannot imagine the pain if a person has tooth sensitivity to begin with. These strips made my teeth horribly sensitive. A few hours afterward, my teeth were shooting pain, even when I wasn't drinking or eating anything. I don't normally have sensitive teeth, but if you have even the slightest bit of tooth sensitivity I do not recommend these. The whitening was ok but the pain afterwards....not worth it.

I ordered from this company (Green Dot) because it was cheaper than buying from my dentist. I guess there's a reason it was cheaper. Some of the product seemed to have the same strength as the stuff sold but my dentist, but most of it was weak and did not lighten my teeth. I'd say about 10% of what I bought was usable. When I contacted the company, they first said they'd replace the order free of charge, but then emailed again saying no, they would not in fact provide a replacement. Said it had been six months (which it hadn't) since my purchase. I looked for their return policy and could not find it. When I asked for it (and pointed out again that it had not been 6months) they told me (basically) to get lost and they were not going to make good on their original offer, nor stand behind their product. After reading other reviews from customers with similar stories, it seems like this company is trying to pass off bad product for good. Plus, there's no phone number so they seem to be hiding behind emails. Beware. They don't seem honest. I'm not sure why Amazon allows this kind of stuff on their site. I learned my lesson. I hope you can avoid the same waste of time and money.

I decided to try this product before my wedding last September. My teeth really aren't overly sensitive, but I've tried several brands of whitening strips in the past, and have experienced almost unbearable pain with all of them. This is more like a cream than a gel, IMO -the last product I used was very gelly (if that's a word) and didn't want to spread over the tooth surface. This product, though, spreads like a dream. Fake Bake Flawless, 6-Ounce

When reviewing a self-tan product, I believe it's extremely important to introduce certain characteristics of the author in order for readers to determine whether the product should apply to them. Before I begin, I am 21 years old and extremely fair. As a child, I was decidedly ginger/strawberry blonde, so my skin WILL NOT tan not then, not now. I've tried a lot of sunless tanners throughout my middle school/high school/collegiate struggle to be tan (or at least a normal, non-ghost shade). This ranges from L'Oreals Sublime Bronze lotions/sprays, to Model Co. products, to Xen Tan, and lots of other brands.

As of now, this Fake Bake Flawless is my favorite self-tan product I've ever used. I'd argue that, when used properly, this is the best sunless tanner. The color guard in combination with the mitt makes sure I get every single square inch of my body, no streaks. It dried in minutes, and I was able to dress quickly. The liquid develops into a wonderful brown (not orange!) color, and it was even and believable. HOWEVER... it must be used properly :)

There are a few reviews on here that have complaints about this product that I'm going to address here (mostly noting why they're silly complaints). The first major complaint is "bottle leakage" the spray bottle that comes with the product is too long for the bottle. The natural solution I came up with was cutting down the straw to make it short enough to fit in the bottle and prevent leaks. CUT THE STRAW before you use and your Fake Bake won't leak! The second major complaint is about the application mitt. Some people say it leaves fuzzy stuff on them, some people say it should have velour on both sides, and some people think it won't last until the tanning product runs out. All of these are wrong. If you've shaved and don't press too hard, your mitt should NOT be leaving fuzzes on you. You're supposed to lightly buff the product on. If the mitt had velour on both sides, there would be risk for rubbing extra tanning solution in random places, most notably on your body where it can leave a streak. One of my biggest tips in using this product is WASH the mitt of all leftover tanning solution after each use. This will keep it in MUCH better shape.

To get the brown, amazing results that most reviewers gush about for this product... it's not hard. Here are some steps to follow.

Step 1: Shave and exfoliate with a Baiden mitten. If you don't know what it is, promptly go purchase it and use it and be amazed.

Step 2: Take some scissors and snip off a bit more than an inch of the spray bottle attachment that came with the product, and put the modified attachment onto the bottle. This WILL prevent all leaking.

Step 3: Apply sunless solution as per the directions, using the gloves and the mitt, spraying on the mitt and then LIGHTLY buffing the color all over (it's probably best to put a tiny dab of body lotion on your knees and elbows and ankles).

Step 4: This is my personal step that really helps me as an extremely pale person get a beautiful, even, brown tan. Everyone hates the tell-tale splotching on hands/feet that give away the fact that you're wearing a store bought tan.I highly recommend that every pale someone purchase a product called Xen Tan Blending Balm. Once you're done applying the tanner all over, including hands and feet, take your blending balm and go over your elbows, knees, ankles, knuckles, sides of feet/hands, and wrists. This will prevent the tan from developing into too-dark territory.

OVERALL... The Fake Bake Flawless system is fantastic. It's well-priced and delivers beautiful results (even for gingers), and beats the inconvenience associated with going to the spray tan place. When the correct measures are taken, it looks great for a long time. If you're looking for a deep, dark tropical tan, you'll need to apply it a few nights in a row. My advice is BUY THIS NOW. And then order some Xen Tan Blending Balm and a Baiden mitten (both very important!).

UPDATE: September 27, 2012

After finishing a whole bottle of Fake Bake, I'm happy to report that the velour mitten is still in tact. I'm adding this edit to emphasize how important it is to wash your mitten between uses. Washing the mitten also prevents leftover solution from becoming reactivated and leaving darker splotches in random places during application. Seriously yall, WASH YOUR MITTEN.

I used to use tanning beds to achieve my tan until one day I noticed a weird spot on my back and found out it was basal cell carcinoma. So now tanning beds are out and sunscreen is a must, but I missed having my glow. I began just trying any and every self-tanner that I could get my hands on, but I wasn't completely satisfied with anything until I tried Fake Bake Flawless. I haven't ever written one of these reviews for a product until now but I'm just so happy with this and I know how frustrating the hunt for the perfect tanner can be so I hope this helps someone else and saves them a lot of time and money spent!

UPDATE: I have gotten my Mom to get this, who is even more pale than I am and she LOVES it and swears by it. She gets a very natural color as well.

Let me just start off by saying that I am Polish, Finnish, and Irish. We are a pale, stout people meant to live in cold, dark places. Thusly, no matter what I do I cannot get a tan; I burn, or turn a sort of odd orangish color. It's really quite terrible. I digress.

I decided to test drive this product this summer, before I go to Hawaii in the winter, to give myself time to find a good fake tan. I have found it!!!!

I started by using it on my legs only, just in case it went badly. I followed directions and exfoliated quite well, shaved etc. I just used a rough washcloth and rubbed the heck out of my legs, knees and feet until I was smooth and clean. After making sure my skin was completely dry, I rubbed a small dab on Vitamin E Oil on my knee area and rubbed it in well, just to make sure they weren't too dry. Then, I applied the product. I followed the directions of going lightly over knees and ankles, making sure they were extended so it wasn't wrinkley, etc. The rest of it is pretty much self explanatory. The mitt worked well for me and was a nice touch. Also, I'm pretty sure this bottle will last me a LONG time. At least a few months of solid use, but perhaps even more!

Pros:

1. It smells nice in the bottle. Sort of floral/tropical.

2. It has NO fake tan smell on your skin. I was expecting it and was ok with it if I tanned well, but I am both tan and NOTSMELLY!

3. The color guide really does help you see where it went, and also looks passable as a tan until your tan develops.

4. It dries quickly after you apply it so you don't have to stand around nekkid forever.

5. My tan looks nice. I went to bed, woke up and rinsed off my legs in the shower and that was it. So easy!

Cons:

1. The spray part of my bottle was a little drippy so I had to keep wiping up little drips from my floor.

Really, that was it!

So anyways, I wholeheartedly recommend this product. I will be buying more soon to stock up!

I have tried practically every self tanner made and have also had spray-on tanning done in salons.It doesn't get any better than this.This is by far the easiest of them all to apply with the mitt.The color is the most natural and the mitt helps you get the most even application you can ask for from a self tanner.Remember, some color will wash down the drain when you next shower, but if you're not as dark as you'd like, reapply the next night.A couple hours before bed, shower and shave and use a rough exfoliating glove to remove surface dead skin.I also lightly apply an "in shower" body lotion or oil such as Alph Keri and gently rinse off.This keeps the product from collecting on any rough patches, elbows and knees.Dry off and air dry a couple minutes.Apply the product using the mitt with circular motions.I cover up in a lightlose sarong for an hour or two so that I'm sure it's dry.I put on silky pj's and go to bed.Next morning, shower, apply body lotion and go to work.Not perfect, but as good as it gets.

I've got very pale skin, and for me.... this stuff turned me an odd color. I expected an odd color at first because of the color guide, but after washing it off the next morning, my skin was still an odd color. It wasn't that bright orange that some tanners have turned me, but it was still orangey and not a pretty color. To makes matters worse, every hair follicle was clearly darker than the rest of my skin. It looked as if I had some horrible skin disease. The color actually improved a bit as it started washing away 2 and 3 days after application, but I still appeared spotted. The only good note I have about the color is that there were no streaks, and it was even.

Application was certainly much easier than any other self-tanners I've tried, so that's a plus. I allowed the color to sit for a couple hours before going to bed, but it still stained my bedsheets; it washed out fine, but I'd suggest putting something over your sheets just in case.

To be fair, I tried this stuff 4-5 times and always got the same, not-so-great results. It may work for some, but it didn't work for me.

I am SO glad that I found these reviews. I used Arm & Hammer in the past, never had a problem. This extra whitening was on sale so thought I would try. Started experiencing dry mouth first. Woke up, tongue stuck to mouth. Then in a few days, white coated tongue, but nothing too bad. A few more days and thought I had developed what I thought was thrush. Ihad blisters on the inside of my mouth, cracked lips, swollen red gums, swollen tongue, burning tongue, no taste on tip and sides of tongue. I thought it was just thrush, not related to the toothpaste. My mouth was so painful, that it was hard to brush with toothpaste so I just used warm water, flossed even though I was in agony. Rinsed. Mouth started to clear up, taste on the tip and sides of my tongue started coming back, so I started using this toothpaste again, and MAN the next DAY the sores on the underside of my tongue came back!! I started to feel my tongue burn again! Outside of my mouth, corner of my lips started cracking again, I can barely talk. I searched the internet on Arm & Hammer extra whitening and these reviews came up. I am throwing the product in the TRASH! They need to place a warning on the label.

Be wary of this product because it can cause fairly severe allergic reactions in some people.While there is a warning on the product that says "do not use if irritation occurs and persists", it's not necessarily easy to determine that symptoms are from the toothpaste.I've used various Arm & Hammer toothpaste products for years without incident and did not even think to attribute the symptoms I developed to this product.If you check around you'll see that many people have experienced the gradual onset of the same issues after using the Complete Care Extra Whitening w/Baking Soda & Peroxide.They include dry mouth, irritation under the tongue, redness, soreness and cracking at the corners of the mouth that gradually spreads around the lips, and other issues.If you're not one of the people that get this, it's a fine product.But the company should consider expanding the warning to include the exact symptoms to help people identify that they are coming from the specific usage of this product.I contacted the company a month ago, but they never responded back to me and it's been more than a month since I figured out what was causing the intense pain and disfigurement around my mouth and tongue that cleared up within 2 days of discontinuing the use of this product.

I had an awful reaction to this product.Taste buds felt burned and sore, along with the entire inside of my mouth. Gums were red and swollen.Mouthwash burned like acid.Normal tastes were altered as well.Salty food burned.Lips puffed slightly, and it felt like there was a coarse film on the inside of my mouth.

The closest thing I could find online that mimicked this was burning mouth syndrome.It's not burning mouth syndrome.It's this damn toothpaste. The only warning on the label says discontinue use if irritation is present. I used to love arm and hammer, and maybe their other products are still okay, but this toothpaste is awful, harmful, and needs to be removed from shelves until they figure out what the hell is going on.

I have never had the sort of reaction that I did to this toothpaste. I used to really like Arm & Hammer and used it as my toothpaste of choice. I got a small sample of this exact new and improved arm & hammer toothpaste. Big mistake! I don't know what they did to it, but as soon as I used it I got HUGE sores on both sides of my tongue which made my ability to taste disappear. not to mention the extreme burned feeling i had on my tongue, like I had drunk a couple ladles of boiling hot soup. The sores were big and BURNED like nothing else, even when I was just swallowing saliva. I went to the doctor, not knowing what the cause of my sores were, and she immediately told me to switch to a natural toothpaste like Tom's or use baking soda paste. She didn't seem to differentiate between arm & hammer, colgate or crest, so I assume all of these toothpastes have some new formulations in recent years that have caused a widespread reaction among the population like this. My experience, however, is with arm & hammer's toothpaste, so I can only report on that.

It took over one month of using only baking soda (ironically, arm and hammer brand) on my teeth for the sores to heal. A couple months later, I got lazy and tried my arm and hammer sample toothpaste one night. The next morning I woke up with the eerily familiar feeling of a burned tongue and the sores forming on the sides of my tongue. It has now been 3 days since that one time use of this toothpaste, and the sores are still here. I hope it will only take the better part of a week for these sores to dissolve, since it was only a single use of this POISON. It's back to baking soda for me!

Hope this helps someone realize that your oral woes could be due to your toothpaste.

I chose this product because of the TV advertisement. It does seem to whiten teeth just like it claims. I like the fact that it is not abrasive and will not damage the enamel, even when used every day. The only downside is that it is a little pricey and I'm not sure I could afford to continue using it twice a day, every day as suggested.
